Changes 2026-About silver

Hello everyone. After some weeks with the shop closed -not resting, though- we are opening again, but introducing some quite important changes that I would like to explain.

In December I posted an explanation on what were my circumstances at that moment regarding silver.

In the last weeks things have not improved and, so, I have had to take some decisions and make changes to the shop.

Here we go:
From now on, silver pieces will not be directly available in the shop as they were until now. This is due to the constant raise of the price of silver. I cannot fix a price if I don't know how much will be the costs of the material when I make the piece, as simple as that.
Right now, this is a general situation and most of the jewelers find ourselves in the same situation. It is almost impossible to prepare a closed quote for a custom order, and offering stock pieces at a fixed price is even more difficult because the material does not have a fixed price.

And you may be wondering "what is happening with silver?". Well, from January 2025 to nowadays (Jan 2026) the price of silver has raised in around 160%.
Silver is a metal that is listed in stock exchange, same as gold, copper, palladium, platinum, nickel, and many more. The daily price of silver is determined by stock exchange, and depends on many circumstances.
Right now, those circumstances include the hoarding of silver by some of the world powers, in the face of the current global geopolitical situation. Silver is what it is called a safe-haven asset. Same as gold, for instance, it is a metal that is bought as financial secure asset. But silver is also a raw material because of its proprieties as an electrical conductor. For this reason, it is used in electronic materials in computer industry, in the production of elements for manufacture of electric cars, or to make solar panels, among other things. Due to the irruption AI, the need for this components for the centres that support it -from chips for machinery to solar panels for the energy that it uses- the demand of silver has exploded.

There are other factors that condition and complicate all this, but I don't want to bore you with all that here. Summarising a lot, the conclusion is that there is not enough silver to cover so much demand, and so the price has gone sky high.
If you want to read about the situation in more detail I suggest reading this article, where you will find all the necessary data to understand it.

I would also like to comment that, as you know, most of the silver I use is recycled silver. I cannot do the recovery process myself, since the silver needs to undergo an analysis (to determine purity) and a refinement processes to grant purity and, thus, its quality and security. This is done in an specialised workshop where that silverware is transformed into raw material (granules for casting), plate, wire, closures, clasps, chains, or other semi-processed elements (such as mounts or earrings, for instance.)
All this process implies a cost and also the price of the raw material is still governed by the price of the stock markets. We choose this option because from the beginning is much more ecologic and responsible, as recycling allows not to depend exclusively on mining, which has high costs, both human and ecological. Even though the prices from this vendor are a bit higher than others', as a plus they are ecological certifications at EU level regarding their production processes, which give us extra warranties.

In any case, the matter is that in one way or another this historical rise of the price of silver affects us.

Due to all the above I cannot keep selling sterling silver pieces directly, I will make them only under quote request, which cannot be a closed quote because of the constant fluctuation of the raw material price. If you want more info on how to order silver pieces, or how custom pieces and special order will work from now on, I have prepared this post

Anyway, you can still find in the shop the pieces in bronze, for which I will keep uploading more options, such as the case of the earrings, that now are also available with iron hooks instead of silver ones. This is because such parts as earring hooks, closures, chains, etc. are made of silver and have been affected by the prices increase (as are silver wire and plate), so I have also had to remove some pieces of the catalogue until I find viable alternatives.

I am thinking on offering options such as silver coatings (much more unexpensive than solid silver pieces) for those who prefer pieces with finishings other than the golden colour from bronze or brass.

Rings without stone will be available shortly (some of them are available already) but those with stones will take a bit more time, I am working on it, so they are available as soon as possible.
You will see that at the moment some of the pieces I had available in silver are missing; I expect to have them available in bronze in the next few weeks. If not all of them, at least, most of them.

Enameled pieces are also still available in the shop, but it is possible that once the ones I have right now in the shop are sold out, I may adjust the designs a bit to be able to adapt the materials and be able to keep the current prices.

At the moment I have created a section in the shop where you can find a silver pieces clearance. These are the last pieces I have from before the prices raise. Since they were cast before the raise, I will not raise their price and I preferred to leave them according to the cost of when they were made, so you can purchase them at what -now more than ever- is a more unexpensive price. Some of them even have little discounts regarding to the original price because I one have one or two of them. I thought about removing them after Christmas, but I think it is better this way. They will be there for a limited time. I will keep these offers until the end of February and, after that, anything that has not been sold will be founded again for new usages.

There are some other changes that affect international shipments, but I explain this here.

I have many new ideas and I want to try new techniques, so I will keep working to keep going ahead despite this blow that, sincerely, has been a hard one. I hope you will keep being around here (and in Social Media) to be updated of the new stuff and my new projects. I really hope you keep finding pieces you like within my work. Thanks a million.
